Bio

Olga Ponomareva was born in Volgograd (Russian Federation) in a musician`s family.

Since 1994, she was studying at the special music school in her native town. In 2005, she graduated from the Volgograd State College of Arts under Professor, Honored Artist of the Russian Federation, Elena Alenkaya.

In 2006, she entered the Gnessins Russian Academy of Music to study from Professor (Mstislav Rostropovich's student) Boris Talalay. She was also studying piano under Nonna Tolstykh, Associate Professor and Ph. D. in Art History, chamber ensemble under Tatyana Pospelova, Acting Associate Professor, and quartet under Aleksandra Frantseva, Professor and Dr. habil. in Art History

In 2011, she successfully graduated from the Academy with a Teacher, an Ensemble and Orchestra Artist, and a Soloist qualification conferred.

In 2010 and 2012, Olga trained from famous European cellists — Marie-Elisabeth Hecker (Germany), Judith Ermet (Belgium).

In 2014, she underwent a composition course at the Vienna University of Music, and in 2018 at the School of New Classics (composers’ school) at the Moscow State Conservatory. Olga made her debut as a composer-performer in 2012 in Hungary, where she played her composition at the International Festival and performed for Hungarian television.

Since her 10 years old, Olga has been active in concert activities, she is a prize winner of allRussian and international competitions. At the age of 15, she performed as a soloist with the Volgograd Symphony Orchestra playing concerto by C. Saint-Saens.

She played ensemble in famous concert halls of Moscow, including Rachmaninov Concert Hall and the Great Hall of Moscow Conservatory, the Kremlin Palace, in the Embassies of Great Britain, the Netherlands, Australia, jazz clubs, etc. Took part in concert tours in Europe (Germany, Slovakia, Lithuania, Belarus, Hungary).

In 2013-2014, she was a member of the American company’s string quartet and performed also solo in show programs.

Since 2004, Olga has been successful in teaching profession (cello, piano and composition).

In 2015, Olga founded the authorial project Ol. Cello performing classical, modern and original music. Since 2015, she has also been a member of the Family Symphony ensemble founded with her five sisters who are also professional musicians.

She currently teaches private lessons at the Institut Montana (Zug), works on her music in her home studio, and is also engaged in concert activities.
